Marine Gardens is a stylish and contemporary little town house, literally a stone’s throw from the beach. It’s in the trendy Kemp Town area which has lots of independent little shops, tea rooms and vintage bric a brac style places in nearby St George’s Road. Nightlife is close by and it’s just a short walk into town too.
The house itself has good quality fixtures and fittings with wooden floors, wooden doors and a contemporary kitchen area and bathrooms. The style could be described as Nordic really..it’s very contemporary but with the curved wooden stairs which have cool colour changing lighting, the blue mosaic bathrooms and the white shutters on all the windows, it does have a slightly nautical feel to it.
The house offers really good value for a weekend for a smaller group. It’s not really the house to choose if you want a dinner party because space is limited, although the dining table does rather miraculously seat everyone. If you’re planning on going out and enjoying Brighton it is an ideal choice for a very stylish base pad.
The ground floor has a large built in cupboard in the hall and then there is one bedroom and a bathroom on this floor. The bedroom has adult size bunks and the bathroom is a fully tiled wet room with a rainfall shower.
Up the curved wooden stairs and you come to the second bedroom which has a zip and link king size double bed so can be a double or twin room. There is room for an additional cube bed if required. The bathroom next to it has a bath with a shower over it.
Up some more curved stairs and you come to the open plan living/kitchen area. There is a white contemporary kitchen area with everything you need to self cater. The living area has a big L-shaped sofa and a cube which is a cube bed from The Futon Company. There is an LCD tv on the wall and the table doubles up as a dining table by pulling it out and opening it up. There are four dining chairs hidden away and the coffee table is a bench so it can seat six around the table in total.
A cube bed folds out to provide a bed for a sixth person and the sofa is available if you prefer not to use a cube bed in the double bedroom, if a person is happy to use the sofa. It’s not a sofa bed but it’s very big and comfy and fine for someone to sleep on if required and we provide bedding.
The open plan stairs from the living area have a glass balustrade and this leads to a funky mezzanine level with a comfy armchair which is ideal for study, chill out or reading. The cube bed can be stored here when not in use, but please note this is not a fire safety approved as a sleeping area. and there is reduced head height.
