Have A Wedding No One Will Forget With Our Top 5 Themes
It';s the most important day of your life and one you will treasure forever.
So stand out from the crowd and pick a theme for your special day to ensure that you, your partner and your guests will never forget. After debating in our office for hours here’s the BIG, FAT five:
The Great Gatsby Themed Wedding
If you haven’t read F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel then you’ll have seen the Baz Luhrman film that took last summer by storm. Suddenly cocktail parties and flapper dresses were all the rage. Think a roaring reception full of dancing and drinking that Gatsby himself would be in awe of. Mid length bridesmaid dresses, a shorter wedding dress, fascinators and headbands and a swinging jazz band will make your day unique. Drive up in Duesenberg - this one’s all about making an entrance to the best party in town.
Circus Themed Wedding
Who doesn’t love a circus theme? Become a big kid again on your big day and wow your guests with colour, lights and sweets. A striped marquee and fairy lights really add to the effect. The beauty of this theme is you can go as all out or as low key as you want incorporating elements into the wedding. If budget is not a problem you can hire performers: fire- eaters, trapeze artists and magicians will keep everyone amused. Hire a carousel or keep it simple: bright invitations, glasses of bright sweets and candy floss will sweeten up any guest.
Rockabilly Themed Wedding
For a bride and groom with attitude this one’s for you. If you’re not about the formal affair then look no further than this. We’re talking huge quiffs, ruffled skirts plus lots of jiving. Send out invites on an old piece of Vinyl – cheap and easy to get hold of – just put the invitation onto the middle. Get dolled up in vintage makeover – hire a professional make-up artist to give you that ‘50s look First dance? It’s got to be ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You.’
Festival Themed Wedding
We all love a festival so why not combine your wedding day with one that yours truly is headlining! Give your guests a wristband to get them in the festival mood, you can leave the wellies at home though. All you need is a marquee, some sunshine, some great music (local bands or DJ’s) and a lot of glitter! If you’re lucky enough to have a field or some greenery invite all your guests to camp and finish with a sing song round the camp fire. Mini burgers, chips, pizza and canapes are great.
Alice in Wonderland Themed Wedding
The Mad Hatter’s tea party is a great starting point for your reception. A huge top table is key for the main meal. A classic afternoon tea can be served in the afternoon: jam tarts, delicious scones and sandwiches - not forgetting fresh tea served in teapots and with mis-matched china cups - will keep all your guests going between day and evening. Mad Hatters are optional but add a lot of fun and eccentricity to make it a day to remember. Invitations in a heart shape will set the theme off nicely. Many dresses would work with this theme – your groom will look the business in top hat, while bows, flowers and attention to detail work well on the bridal gown or bridesmaid dresses. And the cake? Rabbit shaped of course!
